Learning in a Big Way
For Mary Scanwitz, a geography teacher in the suburbs of Chicago, a world map in her students text books wasn’t enough. As she was teaching her geography class, she couldn’t point to the location she was talking about so that her students could relate a lesson with a location (and isn’t that what geography’s all about?!). She needed something bigger and better that she could use as a lesson aid.
She recently wrote to Create My Scene, “I found a bunch of world maps through my online search, but they didn’t quite fit what I needed. All of them were like wallpaper or a poster, so once I put them up, either I could never take them down and reuse them or I ran the risk of them ripping. For me, that was very important because this was a significant expense, and I didn’t want it to just last one year until I had to move classrooms. That’s when I found Create My Scene. They were able to offer me a reusable map that I could take anywhere with me, at a reasonable cost. It’s been a hit with the students!”
Mary used the Non-Adhesive Wall Scene option to create her scene.
