Product: Adhesive Vinyl
Method: Peel and Stick
Before you start:
The texture of the starting surface will determine the texture of your finished Scene. For best results either sand the wall smooth or use drywall compound to bring the surface up to a smooth, consistent finish.
What you need:
- A Ladder or two
- Squeegee or two
- A friend to help out
- Soft Rags
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Utility Knife or Straight Edge Razor Blade
Optional Items you may need:
- Wall/Crown molding
- Finishing nails
Instructions:
- Dampen a soft cloth with rubbing alcohol and liberally apply to the entire surface. Be sure to remove all dust and imperfections before moving forward.
- Remove all light switches, electrical outlets and any other plates from the wall.
- Separate the Scene into sections, beginning from left to right. **The Scene is specifically designed to be hung from LEFT to RIGHT.
- Using your friends help, outstretch the first section of the Scene across the area where you plan to install your Wall-scene. Make sure that your scene is aligned exactly to your preference.
- Using a pencil, make marks at the edges of the Scene. These marks will serve as your points of reference when tacking the Scene up.
- Peel the backing 2 to 4 inches down from the top edge of your first section. This will leave the entire top section of your Scene exposed and ready for application.
- Carefully align and apply the top edge flush with your markings or the wall's edge, whichever you're working with. It is important to align this edge so that the rest of the Scene will match your markings.
- Let the Scene drape to the bottom. If you are satisfied with the alignment, you may proceed to step 9. If not, peel back the vinyl and realign the Scene to match your marks.
- For best results, it is important to peel back between 2 and 4 inches of the backing at a time. Trying to apply large sections at a time will usually result in wrinkles and large air bubbles.
- As you cover the holes for your outlets and switches, cut a small slit with your blade that will allow you to later locate the areas where outlet covers belong.
- As you peel away the adhesive backing, use your squeegee to work the air bubbles towards the edges of the vinyl. Use this technique to work your way to the bottom of your Scene.
- Start from the center of your Scene and use your squeegee to move air bubbles and the soap and water to the left and right edges. You may lift any edge of the Window-scene and smooth back down if you are having difficulty removing air bubbles. Don't be afraid to spray more soap and water if you need to
- If you are having trouble with some air bubbles or wrinkles, use a small pin and a hairdryer to work out the bubbles.**
- Locate and prepare the next section of your Wall-scene. Remember, you are working from LEFT to RIGHT.
- Important: All sections other than section 1 of your Scene have a 1 ½” overlap that you must account for. (i.e. the right edge of section 1 and the left edge of section 2 do not line up). The left edge of section 2 lines up with section one about 1 ½” in from section one's right edge.
- An easy way to ensure correct alignment is to unroll the entire section of the Scene and visually align before adhering to the surface.
- Repeat steps 3-11. This time your marks will be on top of the previous applied section of the Scene.
- After installing your final section, use your utility knife of razor to trim any excess material.
- Be sure to locate the slits you cut for your outlet covers and carefully trim the material to fit this size. Reinstall your outlet coverts in their designated holes.

Product: Non-Adhesive Vinyl
Method: Nail and Tack
What you need:
- A Ladder or two
- Hammer
- Nails (1' to 1 ½”)
- A friend to help (depending on size of the Scene)
- Utility Knife or Straight edge razor blade
Optional Items you may need:
- Wall/Crown molding
- Finishing nails
Instructions:
- Using your friends help, outstretch the Scene across the area where you plan to install your Wall-scene. Make sure that your scene is aligned exactly to your preference.
- Using a pencil, make marks at the edges of the Scene. These marks will serve as your points of reference when tacking the Scene up.
- Carefully position your Wall-scene along your marks across the top. Using the hammer and nails, tack the Scene along the top from the left edge to the right edge. We recommend that you space the nails approximately 8 inches apart and ¼” to ½” from the edge of the vinyl.
- Once you have tacked the top of the Scene, you may let the entire vinyl drape down to the bottom.
- Repeat step three for both sides and finally across the bottom of your Wall-scene.
- If there is any excess material overlapping your desired Scene space, use your utility knife or razor to trim.
Optional but HIGHLY Recommended: Finish edges of scene with crown molding (which can be purchased at your local home improvement store)
- Measure the length of each side of your Wall-scene.
- Cut your molding to fit these measurements.
- Use finishing nails to place the molding of your choice over the edges of the vinyl.
Product: Static Cling
Method: Peel and Stick
Before you start:
Choose a glass surface area that is smooth and free of any imperfections. Your new Window-scene should be installed on the inside of the surface. For best results, avoid installing your Window-scene on surfaces during time periods of extreme fluctuation in temperature (hot or cold).
What you need:
- A Ladder or two
- Squeegee or two
- A friend to help out (depending on the size)
- Spray bottle with water and a small amount of dish soap
- Utility Knife or Straight Edge Razor Blade
Instructions:
- Note: All scenes come with a 1” to 1 ½” margin to ensure full coverage of surface area
- Thoroughly clean glass surface area where the scene will be installed. Wipe area dry.
- Line up the static cling material so that there is a one to two inch border around the entire window. - Take extra care when trimming the top edge! It's important to have a straight and level top. This will assure that your scene aligns properly to the surface area.
- For an easier application, we recommend using a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of liquid dish soap. Spray this mixture on the surface where you plan to install your Window-scene. This allows the static cling to be positioned more easily.
- You may now pull the backing off of the Window-scene. We recommend pulling off a manageable portion. (For any Scene under 3 ft. x 3 ft. you should be fine removing the entire backing)
- Place the Window-scene against the glass surface.
- Once the Window-scene has clung to the surface it is a good idea to smooth out all imperfections. For this, we recommend a squeegee (typically found in the wall paper department of your local home improvement retailer). An old credit card can also help with this process.
- Start from the center of your Scene and use your squeegee to remove air bubbles and the soap and water to the left and right edges. You may lift any edge of the Window-scene and smooth it back down if you are having difficulty removing air bubbles. Don't be afraid to spray more soap and water if you need to.
- If you ordered a custom size Scene, there should be minimal trim work to do. If you have any edges overlapping the glass surface, you will want to grab a utility knife or a single edge razor blade and a straight edge.
- Use the straight edge to pinch the excess material between the trim and the straight edge. Be sure to align your edge from to top to bottom and side to side. Guide your blade along the edge, being careful to only remove the excess material. Remember, cutting the material too long is never a bad thing. You can always take more off if you need to. The goal is to prevent leaving any gaps that light can seep through.
- Use a soft towel to dry your new Wall-scene.

Product: Screen
Method: Spline and Channel
Before you start:
Make sure that the Patio-scene is separated into sections that match your screen panel sizes. Each of the custom cut sections of your scene will be just a few inches larger than each section of your patio screen. Double check to make sure that your Patio-scene is the complete image and the proper size by separating each section and holding them up in the designated panel areas.
What you need:
- A Ladder or two
- Spline roller also know as a Screen Tool (available in the screening department at your local home improvement retailer)
- Screen spline .125” in diameter (in the screening department at your local home improvement retailer)
- Utility Knife or single blade razor
Instructions:
- Begin the installation of each section with the TOP of the screen. It is crucial that your top edge is perfectly level. This will ensure that the image on your Patio-scene will have no tilt upon completion.
- Place the section of screen over the panel area you are working on. There should be approximately a 1 ½” margin around each of the section's edges.
- Use the screen tool to roll screen into the channel. This will create a groove so that you can easily install the spline next.
- Using your screen tool again, place the spline into the grooves and roll into place. In the groove, there is usually a deep side of the channel. Push the spline into the deep side and use the roller to easily push the spline into place.
- It is now time to install the next section of your Scene. Pay special attention to the alignment when installing this section of your Patio-scene. We recommend that you account for the gap in the image (the space created by the width of your patio/porch framing).
- Here is a for instance: Let's say you are installing a scene of a woman's face. The Scene is going to be placed so that the bridge of her nose runs directly down the top of the vertical aluminum beam in your patio. To the left of the beam is her right eye and ear, to the right of the beam is her left eye and ear. The nose should be cut out so that the eyes look proportional after the Scene is installed. This can be a tough step, if you have trouble with this, just email us and we can help you out.
- Repeat steps 1 thru 5 until entire area is finished.
- ENJOY THE VIEW!
