A Hospital with No View

While there is not much construction happening these days, a new building was haunting the staff at Blackhills Surgery Center in Rapid City South Dakota. An expanded wing of the hospital was erected just feet from the only windows in the doctor’s lounge area. This was beginning to cause employee moral to drop and an overall sense of claustrophobia.

Here is a before image of the lounge. You can see just how cramped the room felt. A concrete wall to stare at all day?!?! Who wants that?

The members of the hospital held a few brainstorming sessions and eventually agreed on a mood inspiring image from Ben Goode. This intoxicating image brings in the bright yellows of flowers for happiness, the relaxing elements of a clear sky, and the tranquility of a lone oak tree.

What an improvement!
